moving in

we are taking my son down to osu and was wondering where a good place to buy a tv for his room. target, walmart, best buy,ect

Theres a target right next campus near the movie theater, check there.

what about books

For textbooks, you have a wide number of options.

The best prices are usually found online, places like eBay and Amazon are usually your best bet.

For physical locations, you've got the all-pwerful and all-expensive official campus bookstore, run by Barnes and Noble:
Welcome to Barnes & Noble - The Ohio State University Bookstore

You also can check out Buckeye Bookstore, which I haven't heard too much about:
Buckeye Books

I got the most student recommendations to check out the Student Book Exchange. I hear their prices are among the best for the bookstores that are physically located around campus:
OSU - Ohio State University Textbooks, Clothing, Gifts

You can also try searching out upperclassmen friends who may be able to hook you up with their old textbooks, as long as this year's edition is the same as last year's.

If you intend on buying things on move in day (Sunday, right?) you may find that Target and other local stores will run out of some of the things students typically buy. If you aren't limited by your means of transportation, you may want to buy a tv before you move in.

We bought stuff at the Target near campus on move-in day last year...and they had everything we needed. I also thought their inventory would be low...but we were pleasantly surprised on how easy it was to get in and out and back to campus.

This year, Target was out of Laptop leashes (everyone was), coax. cable to hook up the TV, and hangers. And, they were very low on pillows.
