Hello all, I am completing my BS this fall. I’ve been looking into MPA programs, and one I’m interested in has an option of submitting proof of administrative work at a local government level in lieu of completing an internship. I can’t seem to find any documentation of what they consider “administrative” work, and have seen the requirement of same for some other programs, especially at the EMPA level. So, I’m assuming this term means supervisory or managerial work, correct? I’ve worked in local government for almost 15 years but unfortunately an not on the managerial level, and obtaining an MPA is something I’ve hoped will take me there eventually. Due to my hectic shiftwork schedule I would prefer to not have to complete an internship. Does anyone know if other things such as training fellow employees or even subbing as supervisor when the actual one is off would count toward administrative work for such a program (i.e., at my place of employment if the supervisor is off sick/vacation one of us fills in as “acting” supervisor)?
