An upcoming workshop on Nov. 21 at 6pm PST in San Francisco may be of interest. Even though it is Bay Area centered - it will have a live chat-enabled broadcast so one needn’t be there in person.

How do game companies hire composers? How does one get their music or group into films? [Center for New Music | Workshop: Music for Film, Video & Games](Workshop: Music for Film, Video & Games – Center for New Music)

“What are the creative and business challenges that filmmakers deal with when contracting musicians? How do game companies hire composers? How does one get their music or group into films? Our distinguished panel will cover all this and much more of the essentials you need to know about the current state of visual media in the Bay Area. There has never been a better time for composers, musicians, producers and filmmakers of all kinds, to come together and create visual magic”

Panel includes:

Moderator: Steve Horowitz
Minna Choi, Magik*Magik Orchestra
Greg Gordon, Pyramind Studios
Jerome Rossen, composer
Rick Tejada-Flores, Filmmaker

Thanks for this.
How does one access the live-chat broadcast? I want to pass this along to a composer/student on the east coast. Do you have to be a member? I can’t tell from the website.

I can’t tell from the website either! And they seem to have removed the language about the live chat-enabled broadcast! Sorry everyone! I emailed them to get some answers.
