MRC - "buzzwords" in essay?

Hi. I’d LOVE to be part of the Michigan Research Community more than anything. I was wondering if there is anything, like buzzwords, they want to hear? I know I should speak from the heart, but I have literally no research experience past doing labs in high school and I love it so much, I want to continue it throughout college.

By buzzwords, I mean, for example, in the “why LSA essay?” essay, words like “leadership” and “exploration” we’re good buzzwords to use. I of course didn’t just concentrate on those, but I used them. Anything similar to that for the MRC?

Please don’t look at me as shallow, I’m just in desperate need of help.

The vast majority of MRC students have had absolutely no research experience before their freshman year of college, I would estimate easily over 90% - so do not worry about that. Also, labs done in high school most likely do not count as research, so I would avoid calling it actual research in your essays. However, if you feel like the labs you did capture the spirit of research, then by all means write about that.

@yikesyikesyikes , Yeah, I didnt mean my labs were research, but as in I’ve only been in a high school lab. I had to do a formal lab report where I developed my own experiment and had to perform it and collect data by myself. The teacher literally could not help at all unless I had to handle dangers chemicals (it’s part of the IB bio requirement).

@woah16 Alright, then you should be good - just make sure you write those essays sincerely and thoughtuflly.
