Hey I was looking around for programs that offer an MS in Neuroscience but, all I see is a PhD in Neuroscience at many of the insitutions I called up or sites I have looked at. Does anyone know of a site where they have information on MS programs in per say Neroscience, Immunology, Endocrinology and etc?

As you’ve discovered, an MS in neuroscience is unusual except for those in PhD programs who are ABD (all but dissertation) and who don’t want to continue. Yes, such programs exist, but usually only in state universities and lower ranked programs.

Why do you want an MS? What do you hope to do with it? What aspect of neuroscience do you want to study? If you could answer those questions, perhaps someone could help.

I am not sure why you want a MS instead of a PhD - as momwaitin… said, most neuro programs are PhD - also PhD programs are funded (no tuition, you are paid a nice stipend) while the few academic bio MS programs out there can be costly. (However, there are a growing number of MS programs geared for industry - like [MBS Curriculum](http://www.kgi.edu/Prospective-Students/MBS-Curriculum.html) ). Also, career-wise, biosciences usually require a PhD for high level positions (a MS will limit how far you can go in academic/government careers). Often people in the biosci. with a MS were in a PhD program but for some reason stopped and were given a MS…

There are very few MS programs in Neuroscience. It might be better to find a biology or molecular biology program that is interdisciplinary, so you can chose to do research under a neuroscientist/take neuroscience electives. If you are using this as a stepping stone to get into a PhD program, I recommend you re-evaluate how much an MS will help. Most people I know spent a few years as research techs to make up for lower GPAs/work experience, and they got into good programs. It might not be worth it to spend that much money if an MS is not your endpoint.

Its just that, I’m not sure that I want to spend 4 years in Neuroscience, If I find out that I don’t like it, but I am interested in any MS program in the Immunology, Endocrinology, Biological Sciences or molecular biology is there any site that categorizes that besides going to each individual institutions site

If you aren’t sure you’d like to spend four years in neuroscience, I suggest that you find a lab job in the field to test the waters. If you find out that you don’t like neuroscience, then you can look for a job in one of the other sciences you listed to try it out. Your choice of possible fields is too broad for graduate school; you should know what you want to study/research before you start applying.

Four or more years training for a career is nothing compared to the length of time you will spend in that career. It is a long time if you don’t like it, so for this reason, your instincts are correct not to apply to PhD programs. If you had a good undergraduate record, you might want to look into NIH for lab work opportunities.
