MSU Fall 2018 Transfer Students

I got in!!! I have come to realize I don’t know if business is for me, so to keep my options open (i didn’t know if being classified business-preference on my app would change anything) i changed my major to no preference. If anyone else got in and needs a roommate for a residence hall i am looking for one! i am a transfer sophomore from michigan. i am pretty clean, spend a decent amount of time at the gym &won’t make much noise. i may occasionally get up early to go workout. i do have a boyfriend and i am sure he will be over some. i am not a huge party girl, but i do like to go out on the weekends, won’t be every night tho!!

You and I are in the same boat… kinda! I’m a business preference major and I had receive the same letter of “based on your portal grades you’d be successful at MSU but we’d like you to submit your final grades for a final decision” I feel that it’s a good thing?

Is any transfer student living in the dorms for the fall? Im going to be a transfer student to state but not sure if id be too old for dorms? Ill be 20yrs this summer and id be enterimg as a transfer student

Didn’t realize there was a transfer thread. I was accepted a couple week ago for economics. I’m oos.

Hey guys I’ve been meaning to update this, i got in! my major is biomedical laboratory science.

just submitted my grades for my spring semester to MSU- I got a 4.0 with 14 credits (i have 28 credits now that transfer). Does anyone know how long it takes for them to get back to you after you submit your spring grades??

I got in!!!

Hey guys! So I received my letter and it stated that I was admissible to the university, but since I applied myself as a business preference major they’re going to send my application under a review with the business school… does anyone know what happens if I weren’t accepted to the business school? Does my admission to the university itself become revoked? I’m a bit nervous haha.

Hey Everyone!
How long did it take for everyone’s application to go from submitted to under review?

I got in this morning :^)

My son was just accepted today for electrical engineering as a sophomore. HS GPA 3.83. Transfer from Oakland U. with 3.67… fyi. Good luck everyone, they are obviously still making decisions

Hi, I recently applied to Michigan State college of engineering. I got accepted to Michigan State but they said I cannot be admitted to college of engineering yet as I still have to complete pre requisite courses and maintain my GPA above 3.0. they said I can change my major to non restrictive major and get into Michigan State University. My plan is to become an electrical or mechanical engineer.
Should I change my major to something else and get admitted to Michigan State and complete my pre requisite and then get admitted to college of engineering.

Thank you!

I have the same question. What did you end up doing?

So I applied in November about a week after it opened. I submitted my fall grades with is a 3.3 GPA, and I am taking 20 credits for spring semester which include the math and english requirements for transfer. I will have 28 credits by the end of spring and will have a 3.0 or above GPA. My application finally says it’s in review as of today, when do you think I will find out??

I’m kind of in the same position as you and I am hoping for the same. I currently have the same GPA as you did, 2.86. I’m transferring from UofM Dearborn. I want to transfer to the Human Biology and eventually declare a minor in both Korean and Hispanic Studies. I am transferring with 74 credits as a junior for Spring 2020. I took your advice and reached out to an admissions counselor and I haven’t received an email back yet. I’m hoping to get one soon, but if not I was wondering if you did anything different to get ahold of your admissions counselor? The counselor I was referred took is named Lucinda. I told her my situation entirely as well as why it is important that I get accepted for Spring 2020 and not be a deferred applicant. I’ve been in high anxiety awaiting my decision. MSU is my chance to make things better for myself and to prepare myself to become a stronger applicant for medical school. If you have any advice I’d greatly appreciate it!

Go green!

Did anyone have a hard time socially or academically after transferring to a four year university from a community college?
