MSU Fall 2018 Transfer Students

@transfer99 if you have 28 or more college credits they don’t need ACT/SAT scores or high school transcripts.

I’m applying with 9, but when I’m done with this semester and my summer classes I’ll have 28. I was reading here in the discussion and someone said that they were put on hold; because they didn’t take math yet. What if you’re planning on taking it over the summer?

Did anybody hear anything?

Not yet…it’ll be 5 weeks since it went under review for me next week and I think they usually say 4-6 weeks. Soon hopefully…

Yea my app has been under review for 5 weeks too. Hopefully by next week.

Mine has been under review for 5 weeks, and the application has been submitted since the end of November. I haven’t heard anything, but I’m hopeful that the 6 weeks will ring true, I guess we’ll just have to wait together!

So, I received a letter today, I’m admissible to the university, but not to JMC does anyone know what the process looks like from here?

Hi everyone! I am currently a freshman at Humboldt State university and I’m looking to transfer in Michigan state fall 2018. By the end of this semester I should have 30 credits completed. So far I have a 3.22 gpa (it looks like I’m going to get somewhere around 3.4 or 3.5 this semester). I applied as a history major, but I think if I get in I’ll start to take the required classes for nursing and switch to that. I think I have a good chance of getting in since I have good extracurricular activities and wrote a pretty good personal statement. However I applied about a week ago but I’m now I’m starting to doubt. I’m not 100% sure my math credits would transfer over, at my school I’m taking a Math 103 course which is contemporary mathmatics and we are doing algerbra and a mix of trig and stats. If it doesn’t transfer over can I take the course at a local community college over the summer and still have a chance? Anything would help, I really want to go to MSU. Thanks :^)

Oh and also if I do end up getting accepted super late what would I do about the living situation? Because I’m from California and I wouldn’t just want to move up there without anywhere to live. Do you still get assigned a dorm even if you get accepted later on?

I know you’ll get a dorm no matter how late you get accepted. I had called and asked about that myself in case I don’t end up being able to get an apartment.

I am trying to apply to MSU for fall of 2018! Long story short, for my freshman year I will have been at 2 different colleges. First college I had a 2.8 gpa lots of problems:(, so I just got denied. I am going to appeal and I’m bound to get at least a 3.5 this semester. Is there a good chance of me getting in???

Just got an update! They want to see my final grades before making a decision which is what I expected since I’m taking the math requirement this semester, but I’m hopeful!

I"ve been admitted for the fall!

Are there any girls that are transferring and need a place to live? I need someone to take over my apartment lease. It is 4 bed 4 bath and you’d love with 3 other super nice and fun girls. A lot of our other friends are living in that complex as well so it is a good way to make lots of friends!

I would be interested, but I have to wait to hear back regarding an official acceptance at the end of the semester.

So I have a few questions when my application went under review I got a letter via the portal saying I was admissionable to the school but they wanted to see if I was accepted to Eli bus school and then 3 weeks went by and my application switch to, although we think you’d do great at MSU we wanna see your final transcripts or whatever. What do you guys think my chances are I have a 3.07 and I’m a first generation college student with 50+ credits and all the requirements done?

I just wanted to post on here and say that my appeal worked!! They decided to give me another chance because I did not have the math credit finished yet! So if someone who is reading this falls in the same situation as me, APPEAL!! The school probably loved to see that I made an extra effort to save my application since I want to go to Michigan state so bad!!!

hey guys last year when i was a senior in high school i applied to msu and got in. I had a 3.7 then. I changed my desired semester of attendance to fall 2018 and went to community college instead.
Right now I would transferring from Lansing community college with a 3.466 with 30+ credits. My account still says, “Your application to Michigan State University is currently being reviewed.” I thought I had a good chance of getting in but now I’m stressing out since it’s taking so long. What do you guys think?

I did kind of the same thing regarding applying and getting admitted my senior year then going elsewhere. I applied with a 3.7 and around 20 credits completed this year, but am taking the math requirement this semester so they’re waiting to see that. I think it really depends on when you applied because I believe their website says 6-8 weeks or something like that. If you don’t have the requirements done maybe that’s why it’s taking longer?

My transfer application has been under review since January 12th, 2018. My friend received the decision even though she applied after me. Does anyone know how or in what order they evaluate the transfer application for mechanical engineering ? last name ? first name ? application date ?
