MT Spring break program?

I live in Champaign, Illinois. Since I can’t go to summer program this year, I was wondering if there are (college-level) MT camps/programs during Spring break.

It probably doesn’t line up with spring break, but you might check out the SETC (SouthEastern Theatre Conference) convention. I think it’s around March 6 - 9 this year in Mobile, AL (moves around the conference - Louisville, KY last year - but always same weekend in March). Lot’s of workshops (singing, acting, writing, technical stuff, business go theatre stuff, etc.) and panel discussions. Auditions for college programs and summer jobs, a vendor expo, plays to see and several terrific keynote speakers (So we heard. S was too busy auditioning, interviewing and attending workshops to squeeze them in.) There is also something similar at Webster University in St. Louis for the “midwest” theater conference and one on the east coast, but I don’t know the timing of those. I understand SETC is the largest. S learned a TREMENDOUS amount last year.

As for Webster one, is it “MT” conference or straight acting?

SETC is different from StrawHat, Midwest Theatre Association (the “Webster one”), NETC, etc…

SETC is the only one that has a huge conference with lots of workshops going on as the same time as the summer/ year round theatre auditions that college students and professionals are attending.

The others only have auditions going on, no workshops. These are not for HS students.

Goodspeed in CT has some intensives that are short term, I am not sure, but some of them may be in the spring and could dovetail with your HS spring break.

Colleges will not likely have “spring break” intensives for HS students. College spring breaks rarely line up with HS breaks. Also…speaking as a teacher in a college program… unless we are away at some sort of a work conference, or in rehearsals for a show over spring break, we are taking much needed rest before kicking into gear for the second 1/2 of the semester ;)
