MT Summer Workshop - audition help!

Hello!

I’m going to be auditioning for a summer musical theatre workshop and I am trying to pick my songs. I need an uptempo and a ballad. I am a 19 year old bari-tenor.

I am thinking “Empty Chairs at Empty Tables” (Mis) for the ballad, or maybe “Left Behind” (Spring Awakening).

For the uptempo song, I am considering “Something’s Coming” (WSS), “Les Poissons” (Mermaid), and “The Kite” (Charlie Brown). I’m considering these uptempo songs because I have played these parts, but I am totally open to suggestions!

Also, is the piano part for “Something’s Coming” too tricky for a provided audition accompanist?

Thank you in advance!

My son did “Something’s Coming” for his college auditions. None of the accompanists at any of the schools where he auditioned had any difficulties with it.

I don’t recommend doing Empty Chairs (or anything from Les Mis). Too overdone.

Break a leg!
