i’m engineering… but if it were possible to double major (which it is near impossible with engineering), it would go physics as well. this is not possible… so just engineering.

i looked at mit, caltech, stanford, princeton, uc berkeley, ucla, usc, and purdue. i applied ED to mudd and got accepted (yay!) the night after i had my mit interview. my interviewer basically said that she thought i was a match for mit and thought that i would get in.

i went for mudd but the other schools contacted me a few times. essentially, they said something along the lines of, “we can’t accept you without your blah and blah.”

mit was growing on me but i’m glad that i went for mudd… the experience has been interesting, to say the least.

you applied to two other places that I did (which I’m sure you’ve noticed since you’ve also posted on my other threads :-P), and I’m aiming for the same major as well. good to know. And “interesting” is good… I’m not shooting for as high as perfect and wonderful, but as long as it’s not “this school sucks I hate my life” kinda thing… I’m OK with that. I’m looking more and more forward to my upcoming visit.

i really should tell you…
there will be times where you are like “life sucks”. it happened to me these last few days. but that was because that i had so much work that i pulled two all nighters in a row and the night before that i got 3 hours of sleep. we know how to have a good time though.

last night, we turned up “the magnetic fields” (a cool band) and just started doing interpretive dancing around the room. it also is completely acceptable (and encouraged) to go outside and smash some bottles (or computers) and scream the F word as loud as you can. i like the openness here.

I am having a “life sucks” moment now as I am cramming for my biology exam on the circulatory system (who gives a crap?!) and my study partner is sitting next to me reading the screen as I type this and laughing at me. Now you’ll have to excuse me, as I need to go back to learning about frogs and their pulmocutaneous circulatory systems. Once again: WHO GIVES A CRAP?! Now I’m looking forward to a time when i can go outside and smash bottles and scream. All I have is my water bottle–I don’t think it will make much noise.

ME TOO. As I’ve already shared. It’s so boring and pointless. I mean, I get studying human anatomy (which is a fun class) if I want to go into medicine (which I don’t, but that’s beside the point). However, I’m done with studying frogs and insects’ anatomy and physiology. Although, studying plants are even worse. They don’t move! They’re no fun!

no no no now that’s just not nice. that’s like saying cheerleading or dancing’s not a sport (not that I don’t hear those arguments all the time.) But biology is most certainly a science. Just not an important, relevant one. I see it more like… God’s punishment to us. That is, I would see it like that if I were more religious, but I’m kinda failing in my practice. Speaking of God though, there’s a terrific movie that anyone who is interested in biology or anatomy should see (and even you, rocketDA, just b/c it’s amazing) - Something the Lord Made, starring two great actors: Mos Def and Alan Rickman!!

i was being quasi-sarcastic. in the world at large, it is science. it has some fundamental flaws to it… my strict defition of science comes from the greek mentality 2500 years ago. read “music of the spheres” and you’ll know what i’m talking about.

the industrial revolution has tarnished the goals of science. the goals used to be only of purpose and understanding and now it is a mix of that and application to the economy. yuck.

It’s a little late now, but if your ex knows someone in West Dorm, you might be able to be put on a list to get into the party. Otherwise, they usually card so your chances are probably slim. Never know, though, I suppose. Good luck, and if you do/did go, hope you had fun. I can hear the party right now from my dorm room, so it’s a pretty weird thought to be reading about it here!

oh I did go–I borrowed somebody else’s ID card, but it didn’t even matter b/c I didn’t get carded. Awesome party, AMAZING margaritas, and kickass lemon shots of tequila!! OK now I need to go hit the sack and attempt to sleep off the impeding hangover before I meet you all at ASP tomorrow morning! (unless I’ve already unknowingly met some of you…)

aw you mean it doesn’t fill your heart with glee, thinking you might have unknowingly met the wonderful and brilliant moi? ok, I’m done with the vanity now.
It is kinda weird to think about how we might’ve met but wouldn’t have known that we met.
oh man my mind still hasn’t adjusted from Central time, so here I am, up bright and early with nothing to do! :/. oh well…

So I wandered around the five campuses today, just looking around, and I found plenty of orange trees, but no lemon or lime trees. Where are they?
