Multiple apps from one school

I was wondering if UW takes more than one student from the same school from an out of state school. I really want to go to UW but another student from my school is also applying. We both have what it takes to get in but her rank is a lot higher than mine.

What are your and your friend’s stats?

Out of state, decent public school in california
both average 4 hon/ap classes per year
pretty much the same ECs
mine:
3.5 UW
1350 old sat
more community service
enrolled in IB program - full diploma candidate
asian male
vs.
3.8 UW
1400-1450 sat
Secretary General of MUN
white female

first of all…your friends stats don’t matter at all. I think you have a shot especially with 4honor/ap a year. GPA is a little low for an outta stater but I still think you got decent shot with a really good essay (UNIQUE!!!).

UW has recently announced that it’s going to a more “whole student” approach to selecting applicants. So, perhaps no more automatic entries based on GPA and test scores alone. I haven’t heard that they only try to take one student from an out-of-state school. What you should do is make it clear why you want to go to UW, why they are the best match for you. Good luck!
