multiple degree programs harder to get in than regular MD? Does legacy give you advan

My dad went to the fletcher school (Tufts), and I just learned that Tufts has a MD/MA degree that lets you get a MD and a MA in international law. I am only a rising sophomore, so I am not even sure if I will be good enough for med school. However, I find the degree program very desirable. My questions are, are the multiple degree programs easier or harder to get in than the regular MD program? And does legacy give you any advantage?

MD/PhD are much harder to get into.

MD-other degrees usually require separate admission, so they are not any harder. That is, the MD program admits you on its own, the MA program admits you on its own, and then you go and do them both. So it’s just like applying MD-only.

Legacy does matter.

Also you should really consider what masters degree you get.

If you plan on going into private practice then an MBA would be more suitable that many of the other m. degrees.

If you want to do research then an MS in basic sciences, clinical investigation, or engineering will be more useful.

If you want to do preventive medicine (e.g educational programs, then a MPH would be a better choice.
