I noticed on OSCAR when I was registering for classes (which is right now), that there’s an option to change how my Physics 2211 class will be graded!

This is pretty interesting since I can either take it as:
-Letter Grade
-Audit
-Pass/Fail

Now I heard Physics at Tech is hard…and I’m not too much of a physics buff myself, so should I take it Pass/Fail? Or will that somehow affect me in the end? Will it prevent me from taking 2212? Anybody have an idea?

Check with your major department. There is a limit to which classes can be taken Pass/Fail. Usually you can only take electives pass/fail and you are limited in hours (usually 9 hours or less).

If you take Physics 2211 Pass/Fail and pass and your department requires you to take that class for a letter grade for your degree, you will need to retake the class.

For an engineering major, it’s very unlikely (in fact, I’d wager money on it) that you can take Physics I pass/fail for your degree. If you are a STAC major or an MGT major, that might be allowed if you already have two other Lab Science courses.

Most majors will require that you take all your classes (except free electives) for a grade. I suggest you do not do any class pass/fail without first asking your advisor.

Taking a class pass/fail looks awful on a transcript. PHYS 2211 isn’t terribly hard anyway. And as others have said previously, I would lay money on the fact that taking that class pass/fail will mean it won’t count towards your degree.
