from what I see in the layout of the map, it seems that the two sections of the room are divided by a wall with a door. i wanted to know if say a person got a room on the inside portion do they have to walk through the other side every time before entering their section or is there a door for each section seprately

I had heard that some of the Murphee rooms were set up a bit differently but i visited one and it was exactly like the floorplan. One person had to walk through the other’s room to get to theirs. Also, the sink was in the back room only. There were about 7 or 8 doors(suites) off a short hallway and these suites all shared one bathroom with a single shower stall and I believe, two toilets. Each hallway is locked and accessible only by card key (you swipe to get in) so that is why they say it is not very social…you really only regularly interact with the 14 - 18 people on your hallway.

There are three types of room in Murphree. The first is what on the website, equal size rooms with the door in the middle, sink and closet are in the back room and A/C control in the front room. The second, the front room is really small and the back is really, really big. Usually those rooms are for triples but I have known people in doubles like that. Usually they will put the desk in the smaller front room and beds at the back. The last style is where there is no wall, just one big open room.

Murphree is divided in to sections, not floors like the traditional style dorms. There are sections A-M, skip I. Each section ranges from ~25-34 people. The first and fourth floor within each second are usually male and second and third are usually female. The kitchen is on the second floor. Each mini-floor has one bathroom (2 toilets, 1 sink, 1shower stall). Generally you share that bathroom with 3-10 people. I only shared mine with 3 others. I generally suggest to new residents that the person that goes to bed late (study, partying, etc), should take the front room to be considerate of you roommate.

You will have a male RA if you are in sections B,C,E,F,G,L and a female in A,D,H,J,K,M. The smallest sections (# of people) are A,F,G, and H.

how are the rooms in sledd & fletcher? i heard their room layouts vary according to each room?

hmm, anyone have any recommendations on which dorms might be better for a pre med student. I was thinking of either fletcher or sledd.

i’ve heard that sledd and fletcher, murphree have the exact same layout and that murphree has a higher price as it had renovations done recently

Sledd/Fletcher has smaller rooms that Murphree, but bigger than Broward-style dorms. There is no sink or door in Sledd/Fletcher rooms. Bathrooms in Murphree are nicer and newer since they were just redone. And supposely flecther/sledd have a humidity problem, more so in the summer.

no door? explain?

Don’t know what I need to explain. There is no door in the space between the front and back rooms in fletcher/sledd. Some put up shower curtains.
