My son is a musician and loves languages. He is smart, talented, and is a very open person. He is deciding between Tulane and Berkeley. He is not very proactive and I worry that getting what he wants at Berkeley could be more than a challenge. I think Tulane could give him the attention he might benefit from and offer enough academic offerings and top professors, (and music of course) but Berkeley’s diversity and breadth of opportunites seems hard to pass up. So, if you are smart, love to learn, but are not a “go-getter”, can you succeed at Cal?
