My HS student is applying to summer composition programs. Can anyone give me so input about Yellow Barn or BUTI? I know they are very very competitive. Anyone able to give any insight about what they might be looking for? We do not know anyone who has been admitted to the programs.

My son enjoyed BUTI music composition last summer! His piece was played on the main stage at Tanglewood, which was very special.

YellowBarn is excellent.
I highly recommend Walden School in Dublin NH. Everyone writes a 10-15 minute piece played by world class musicians who they can also hang out with at dinner etc. There are interesting classes and hikes, other events. It’s 6 weeks and there is some financial aid available.
