Hey, I’m just in my fourth year of film school at UCLA, and we’re getting a chance to hear Mark Romanek speak at our campus on the 18th of this month. It’s part of screening that they’re doing for the Directors Label Series. The series basically highlights prime directors in the areas of music videos, visual art, and of course film. Anyone have a similar event around their school?

I first heard about the project through a Universal internship, but Michel Gondry (the guy who directed Eternal Sunshine For The Spotless Mind) commented in a Mojo Magazine article that he was behind the director choices – that in mind, I’ve really been into collecting these things, they’re pretty addictive. I started out with the Spike Jonze and Michel Gondry discs, but I went ahead and got the whole lot when the second series came out (has Anton Corbijn, Romanek, Jonathan Glazer, Stephane Sednaoui). The Corbijn and Romanek discs are the key ones in the set.

I was just kinda curious if anyone else collects these, has seen one of the screenings already, or knows more about the collection? Like I said, I’m a bit fanatical when it comes to film and music related stuff.
