<p>I’m going to be a freshman at the University of Georgia this fall, but after thinking about what I want to do with my life, I have decided I would like to pursue a career in the music industry or in the film production industry. First of all, money and distance are factors so what are some good film schools/ music industry schools in the southeast or just east coast? Also, how does it work transferring into a program such as film? (I will be going into UGA with 25 hours of credit so I will be done with all my undergraduate requirements after my first year). I don’t have a film resume of any sort. </p>

How you define music industry is important. There are program variants, depending on program structure. Some are technical, focused around hands on studio recording/production aspects, some are more management/promotional/administration/business focused, some focus on the science and theory of sound and acoustics and science/engineering type pursuits. Others are deeply rooted in a solid music curriculum, and will involve music theory, aural skills training, piano/keyboard proficiency requirements, participatory performance/ensemble requirements an are audition based admits. </p>
<p>Transfer policies are institution and often discipline specific. For example, from a music perspective, music theory credits are often the most difficult to transfer.</p>
