Music Major

Hello. I’m new to this sight so i don’t really know what i’m doing. I am currently a senior in Hanford, California and plan on graduating May 29. After high school i will attend College of the Sequoias, a local community college where i will start getting more music educaation. now the problem is i would like to transfer, but i don’t really know where. I would like to be a music major and become a high school band director. I need help trying to find out what schools have good music programs or if anyone knows where it would be a good place to attend.

If you want to become a high school band director, you’ll probably need to major in music education (not music performance). I’m not sure how any of the public schools in CA are for music performance or education.

After CC, do you want to stay in CA (if you excell at CC, you should be able to get in to some good CA publics), or go out of state?

No. Cal schools for music Ed include San Francisco State and Sonoma State. Maybe Chico as well. A good private would be UOP in Stockton.

UCLA and USC might find a place on your list
