Music practice rooms in residential colleges?

Is it really true that all the residential colleges have music practice rooms? Not all of them mention practice rooms in the facilities listings on their respective websites (e.g. Branford doesn’t, unless I’m missing something). Also, are there practice rooms on Old Campus, or do freshmen use the ones in their residential colleges?

Most of the Residential Colleges do have practice rooms. As far as I know, there are no practice rooms on Old Campus although my son often was able to practice in empty classrooms in the basement of Bingham (except during reading weeks). He rarely practiced in his room as he didn’t want to disturb his suite mates. If you are taking lessons for credit, you will also have access to the practice rooms in the School of Music.

Freshman use the ones in their residential colleges… anyone interested could just get the key from their master’s office. Some people practically live there. :)

There are also a lot of practice rooms not associated with the colleges. If you don’t need a piano, then Hendrie Hall has a whole lot of practice modules on its top floor (and two of them do have pianos). If you’re taking lessons for credit, then you have access to a lot more BEAUTIFUL practice rooms in Sprague Hall and the “blue house,” an old house in which every room has been converted into a piano room.

Berkeley has a music room… you just sign up for it whenever you want it. Also… everyone walking through beinecke quad will hear your music if you leave the window open.
