Is this decent?? Little S doesn’t need anything fabulous, but he needs something. He has started printing off sheet music from the internet so he needs the clips. But it should also strong enough to hold his binder of music from school. This is so inexpensive that I’m hesitant… but it looks like it may do the job.

It’s a basic stand and should be fine, assuming his school binder isn’t too large or heavy.

Check out Woodwinds and Brasswinds for stands.

Looks fine but if it’s really flimsy, return it. I guess that now you can take amazon returns to kohl’s.

Bought a lot from woodwind brasswind back in the day

@deb922 I forgot about that! That’s certainly convenient when you’re not sure of quality.

You could also ask this on the music majors section of this forum. I’m sure those folks will have suggest

The basic stand would be fine for home use because you can take out the sheet music from the binder or folder. If you think he’ll need to start bringing it for performances, invest in something more sturdy or you will end up buying a second one. I second the recommendation for looking at Woodwind and Brass.

Two instrumentalists in this house.

We have a Manhasset Voyager. It’s a very sturdy stand. When set up, it looks most like the stands they have in the band room (which are Manhasset also). For traveling, it’s a little bigger because the sheet music holder doesn’t fold up. But it’s a sturdy stand. And lasts. Ours is at least 20 years old.

Both kids also had Konig and Meyer folding music stands. They were pretty costly IIRC, but also have a sturdy base which is important.

ETA…Woodwinds and Brasswinds uses to have a stand that looked like (and acted like) the Konig and Meyer stand. It was less costly, but I don’t see it on their website anymore.

In terms of clips… for sheet music, buy a pack of large bulldog clips. They will come in handy and can hold the music on any music stand. They can also hold pages open in books of music too. Our kids also carried paper clips (large) and clothes pins in their instrument cases.
