Music theory test

Hi! I am an international applicant for BM this year. During my application process, I have to take the music theory test. I want to get high marks in this test in order to attend an advanced level of music theory class when I enter school.
I have taken music theory courses for six years in a music middle school. However, those are not taught in English. And I am not sure what points will be included in the test. How about the difficulty? What is it mainly about?(writing chords, scales,or just about their concept?) Is this kind of test involves in ear-training?

Please tell me about something or recommend me a book? Thx!

Sometimes, even if you have taken a lot of theory, you might want to start off at the beginning of a particular school’s theory sequence because every school is a little bit different. Up to you. But there is, for that reason, not a lot of reason to be nervous, at least.

At the top tier conservatories it is extremely difficult to “test out” of the lower level theory sequence classes; in fact, at one school, I only knew of it happening twice in four years. Each school does it differently, so there is no one “book” to recommend nor can we tell you about the tests that are given, since they also differ. Just do your best and see how things turn out!

My daughter’s high school choral teacher suggested that, @compmom.

Agree with @compmom.
