Musical artists you can't stand!!

May as well add Muskrat Love.

At the risk of identifying myself, I can’t resist noting that my father-in-law left explicit instructions in his will that Musrat Love be played at his funeral, graveside – right after the military bugler finished Taps and the flag ceremony completed. He thought of himself as quite the card. For God knows what reason, the family honored his wishes.

Where is the love button for this?! ^

Barry Manilow.

Nice guy and all but never have liked his music.

Mariah Carey. Hate everything she’s ever done.

Young female pop singers with high, babyish, often nasal voices. They seem to come and go quickly, and I don’t know their names, though Ellie Goulding is one that comes to mind, I guess because she’s stuck around. I suppose Britney Spears started the whole thing, but women sounding like whiny little girls is a trend that needs to end.

I’ll probably be struck down by the music gods, but I easily tire of Adele’s voice. There’s a sameness to her tone and inflection that gets irritating. After hearing each new song multiple times over the course of a few weeks, I never want to hear it again. I can’t imagine sitting through an entire Adele concert.

I forgot…Bob Seger. Can’t stand any of his songs. If I hear ā€œTurn the Pageā€ one more time I might vomit. And Chevy playing ā€œLike a Rockā€ every 5 minutes for 10 years didn’t help.

My vote for worst song of all time (not that I disagree with the ones mentioned upthread…). John Travolta singing ā€œLet Her Inā€. Worst.voice.ever.

Barry Manilow…totally agree!

I could pretty much have written this post.

Yes. I tried to listen to them because DH liked them, but I really just couldn’t. They had pretty album covers though.

Worst song ever- Loving you- Minnie Ripperton definitely like fingers on a chalkboard
Never much liked Barbara Streisand either, also Beyonce and Taylor Swift
Never liked the Eagles, can’t stand Hotel California or Horse with no name
Also agree with Macarthur Park and Afternoon delight, yuck
Oh and Michael Bolton! My H and I can identify a Michael Bolton song in about 3 notes and are both rapidly punching at the car radio to switch to another station as fast as possible

I liked Minnie Ripperton’s ā€œLovin youā€ except those high notes were a bit much (miss her- and sidebar, her daughter is Maya Rudolf). My vote for the worst song/singer ever is Tony ORlando and Dawn and ā€œTie a yellow ribbon 'round the old oak treeā€. My job at a friend’s wedding was to make sure the band did NOT ever play it (yes, this was decades ago. Still HATE that song)

I just listened to part of Lemonade, and I can’t figure out what all the hype is about Beyonce. I thought it was awful.

Justin Bieber. He’s on tour now, only actually singing 1-2 of the songs that are acoustic. He’s not even trying to lip sync most of the time–his lips either aren’t moving or moving out of sync. He just fired one of his keyboard players on the tour because he was way too energetic and was upstaging him by lip syncing better. He keeps his audiences waiting, he acts exhausted and yawns and looks like he doesn’t want to be there. Pathetic.

Wife hates Squeeze. I like them. Its a problem. :-j

To be fair, if we eliminated all artists that failed the psychiatry test, we’d be left with precious little music.

@thumper1 agree with you re Lemonade. Her worst album to date.

I found that ā€œLoving Youā€ fell into the so bad it’s good category. A similar one my D listened to in middle school - I can’t remember the name but a DJ referred to it as ā€œghetto yodelingā€.

I see a few more here that I could add to my list…Mariah Carey ( cringe )
Minnie Riperton …that song geez
I added Kim Carnes to my list because of her equal -to - Minnie Riperton’s one hit wonder :
Betty Davis Eyes.

EDM is something I tried to like because my son was into it. But I couldn’t. I just couldn’t. I actually prefer rap to EDM and I really, really dislike rap.

But Jimmy Buffet will always have a soft spot in my heart. I heard him first in a little bar in Champaign-Urbana in 1973. It was snowing and the bar was empty except for our table and one other. He played a song he just wrote the day before and talked about his car skidding off the road on the way to play this gig that nobody showed up to. It showed up on his next album. I still like his early stuff, but the at some point in the mid-70s, I think he just started writing the same song over and over again.

@BunsenBurner : ā€œOMG. I played the link in #23 to Mr. His reaction, ā€œthat is a pretty bad karaokeā€ - really?! I snorted my wine. Sorry, Sarah.ā€

Oh, no! What was in his wine glass? (JK, Bunsen)

I have always loved Barry Manilow, I have to admit. Still have my favorites. Not a single person in my life has ever understood why.

ā€œDoctor, my woman is coming back home late today—could ya maybe give me something? …'cause the feeling is gone and I must get it back right awayā€¦ā€

How can anyone deny such brilliance??!? Seriously though, he was my jam in high school, along with the Bee Gees.
