Musical artists you can't stand!!

count me in the not a fan of Adele camp…i am sure she has talent, but omg, every song sounds the same and she is so overplayed–i can barely listen to the radio without hearing her every other song…i find it annoying.

i was actually thinking to myself that she probably will not be a legend because everyone will be sick of her by the next album.

The problem for my 50 something ears is that 99% of the pop music today sound the same. It’s cookie cutter stuff from the music factories.

Adele, to me, has tremendous talent. She’s the contemporary version of Dusty Springfield along the same style and voice. Dusty just had better material.

@thumper1

I guess you’re not a Sondheim fan! :wink:

Adele has been around a lot longer than most realize and isn’t going anywhere soon. I think she is s tremendous talent. Her early music is really fantastic.

oh yeah…

@2muchquan

you win the internet today…funniest.post.ever!

I happen to like a large portion of the names listed so far.
The only music I hate is misogynist rap. For the life of me I don’t understand how anybody can listen to it or support it in any way. I have discovered a couple rappers that while I don’t love them I at least don’t hate it.

Rod Stewart-what he does really isn’t singing by any standard.
Songs-No. 9 by the Beatles-who else would have received one minute of airtime for this drivel?
Spirit in the Sky (Norman Greenbaum)-kill me now if I ever hear this again

Agree, some rap isn’t misogynist and I like it. But honestly, I thought I was alone in disliking so many of those female singers.

Rod Stewart is just revolting.

I like the cover of his “I don’t want to talk about it” by Crazy Horse though.

@nottelling Re: “Take a letter, Maria” My universe has been altered! Obviously, never listened to the song carefully. But seeing the YouTube video and the dictaphone? Ohhhhhhhh…that kind of take a letter…duh.

Thanks for the chuckle!

My daughter is in charge of the car radio but whenever Adele’s song Hello is played, I turn the channel. Can’t stand it. Not a big fan of Adele. Whenever a Justin Bieber song comes on, my daughter turns the channel. I agree with her.
Don’t like the Maroon 5 and all the high pitched squealing. Not a fan of Adam Levine.

I don’t like listening to most of the sad sad songs. Usually about a broken romance. The guy sings soooo slow. There are plenty of these songs. I tell my daughter to turn the channel.

I like Meghan Trainor. I can see her sound getting old, but right now, I like her.

Adam Levine and Maroon 5…SWOON!!! I’ll take any of their songs you don’t want to listen to @dstark!

@abasket, you can have them all and all their future songs too. :slight_smile:

The Beatles do absolutely nothing for me. They really bore me. I recognize their place in musical history but would be OK if I never had to hear another Beatles song ever again.

I’ve been contemplating a thread about “songs you used to love but then were so overplayed and now if you hear them one more time you will tear your ears off”. But I don’t know what to name it.

Wasn’t there an earworms thread?

Hotel California is my traveling song with D2. I could play it over and over, half way from here to NYC.

Ps. I never got Prince. It’s been a recent surprise to learn how admired he was.

Love Maroon 5.

I think it is interesting (but shouldn’t be surprised) that PG versions of songs are played in stores (aka 'elevator music").

An aside–I saw “Chicago” on a cruise ship and really loved the movie–told my parents to watch it. Little did I know that I had watched the “expurgated” version with most vulgarity cut out. Whoo! Did I ever hear about that!
