Musical Grey's Anatomy

Ok, this is SO strange…is anyone else watching?

Kinda weird…but, I think I’m liking it, good songs so far!

I’m kinda liking it too. Lexie’s singing voice didn’t sound anything like her speaking voice. Think it was her? Hunt was surprisingly good.

I was amazed by Bailey’s voice.

I like it - it brought tears to my eyes a couple of times already.

I find it interesting and entertaining and it’s dealing with some interesting issues. I like it.

Are they trying to mimic Glee? Not enjoying- that’s why I am reading cc

At first I didn’t like it but then it started growing on me…at the end loved it. Good songs!

I forgot how good a singer Lisa Ramirez is. We saw her several years ago in Spamalot in Chicago (before it went to Broadway). There were a bunch of big names in the it and we had never heard of Ramirez, and she stole the show. She went on to win a Tony for her Spamalot performance.

I thought that some parts worked better than others, and those good parts were very touching. I watch it all the time and I still can’t remember character names, but I did’nt like Yang’s husband singing. Too weird.

We are big GA fans here. We all loved it!! I wasn’t sure at all, but I love the music used on the show. I thought it was very well done.

I have the ipad app that runs with the show live and gives fun facts as you go. There was a lot of commentary about the song choices, when they originally aired, what was going on. I think it helped to have that context and make it come together.

I don’t watch GA, but I used to love Cop Rock & I was really sad when they canceled it.
Maybe it was just ahead of it’s time?

Didn’t work for me. Too distracting and gimicky. When the content is rich, like the recent scene with Adele and Richard opposite Meredith and Derrick, there’s no need for novelty.

Ok–now I have the courage to watch it–it seemed so sappy in the previews that I thought I would hate it.

Bad. All I can say is bad.

I have seen a lot of musical episodes. Ranging from the good ‘Scrubs’ (a patient who has a brain tumor where her hallucinations are of her doctors singing) to the gimicky ‘Sabrina: The Teenage Witch’ (one scene - sprinkles on a cake make people sing) to the amazing ‘Buffy’ (the plot went farther and helped the arc of the seaosn).

Anyway Grey’s Anatomy was having a musical episode for the sake of having a musical episode. The show is one its 7th season and has had some good moments and some bad. They used Sara Ramirez because of her Tony award winning work in Spamalot. Kevin McKidd’s singing was just awkward especially as he hid his very Scottish accent while singing.

I personally think the episode would’ve been a lot better if the musical part was not incorporated. The drama would’ve been seen more.

I loved it. Some scenes brought tears to my eyes. I replayed that last scene with Ramirez singing several times. I would buy a CD of her singing that song.

She can sing. We saw her in Chicago. That’s not just production value; she’s really good.

I would have liked to hear more Bailey. She has a heck of a voice.

It was fun. It was no “Buffy” the musical. But Whedon is his whole own thing.

Sara Ramirez and Chandra Wilson are both longtime, experienced stage actors. No one should be surprised at their vocal talents. :)

I enjoyed Sara Ramirez’ singing & it ‘fit’ with the episode (she was in a coma after all), but it was just strange to have the other characters singing. It was an interesting experiment, but I’m not sure it completely worked.

DD & I liked Christina’s husband singing, he has a “Lifehouse” coffee house sort of voice.

IMHO please don’t mess with a good thing!
