Musical Theater College Admission 2025

Where is she waitlisted? There maybe some schools that are still taking auditions… perhaps a BA program instead? Waitlists do move, so that is hopeful! I feel your pain in all the not knowing. I think we are all waiting on NYU at this point. lol

I went there for my son’s audition. He didn’t make it in, but it seems very cool! They are merging with Northeastern (or something like that), so they won’t be known as Marymount Manhattan in the future. Tuition rates won’t change for this incoming Freshman cohort. It seems like there are incredible opportunities there. Are you accepted? Have you gone to visit?

My friend’s son was accepted there. As of now it’s his top choice of the four yeses he has gotten, but he is still waiting for a few others. My daughter is two years behind him so we are taking it all in and learning a lot for when she begins the process.

SO glad you posted this - we hadn’t checked our mail for days, totally thought they would notify by email/Acceptd.

SUNY Cortland has a 3/14 deadline for Fall 2025 consideration.

Brenau/Gainesville Theatre Alliance has their last audition date as 4/12

She’s waitlisted at Marymount. Other than that, only other hope is NYU and that’s likely a long shot. :frowning:

How does one hire a college coach for this. We are in FL and don’t have a clue where to turn.

Ugh if it helps I’m in the same boat rn.

I’m waitlisted at two schools (Rider and MMC) and have been rejected from 3 so far. I still have three more to hear from (one of which I’m sure is a no and the other is NYU lol). I applied for around 16 schools, had 11 schools to audition for after the prescreening process, and could only audition for 9 because of costs.

This whole process sucks and is so unpredictable. So maybe hearing my story will bring some comfort. If your kid has the opportunity— they should take a gap year, train and apply again. It’s what I would do if I could. There are some online college audition coaches from what I understand— that’d help with material and picking a good amount of schools.

Still waiting to hear back. I’ve got a hunch she’ll get in…but that’s all I’m going on. Nothing official as of yet. :crossed_fingers:t2::crossed_fingers:t2:

There are various coaches. We used MTCA, and did virtual coaching sessions, but there are others.

We are in a similar boat for my daughter. Only applied to 5 schools, some of the hardest programs to get into. We live in the UK and it was an extra process applying from here and didn’t want to overwhelm her. She’s in an intensive MT program right now and has been in a performing arts day school since she was 11. Had an agent in nyc as a child and worked professionally. We were quite confident but totally underestimated how hard this would be. So far, she’s WL for her top choice, has received an offer and merit scholarship at a school she’s not that excited about, 1 no and 1 is likely coming any day from CMU, and that just leaves 1 more option. She may take a gap year. We’ll see what happens but this is so much harder than we thought.

I’m sorry. This process is really hard. Not sure which schools you applied to other than CMU, but places like UMich have an acceptance rate of about 1.5%, TXST 2%, Emerson 4.5%, Montclair 7.5%, etc. It’s just so fiercely competitive, so it’s not a comment on your daughter’s talent at all. I really hope she gets good news and finds her place.

Good morning. Have you let the waitlist school know that you’re still interested? Waitlists can move. I’m hoping for open doors with y’all!

We used My College Audition - Sarah in particular. Free consults would be a great place to start. Everything was online for us too.

Hi! My daughter is a transfer too. She is actually a sophomore at her current program. She got into MSM too, but they want her to start over as a freshman. Is that the case with you too?

For what it’s worth - I’m so proud of you!!! :tada::musical_notes::heart::sparkles:

Does anyone have any insight on how the Texas State waitlist moves??

I wanted to offer some reassurance to those who are waiting and think their auditions went badly: the reality is that you never know. The audition that my kiddo thought was a home run did not result in an offer. Two that they thought were their two worst led to offers. The reality is that your perception of your performance is NOT what they’re seeing in the room. Don’t give up hope – there are still a significant number of schools that have not yet made offers.

Thank you for your kind words. She didn’t apply to any of the schools you mention but for those she did the acceptance numbers are similar and less than 10 percent. Her top picks are still in play so we haven’t given up all hope and London auditions are still to come. It will all work out.
