We also used My College Audition, with Gigi. We started with a free consult. Without joining, you can access some free online resources, an informative blog, and offer some a la carte bootcamps and other services that are individually priced and open to the public if you just want to try them out. We ended up doing virtual coaching sessions with them and they were wonderful.
Thank you for this! Iâm listening and is awesome!
Indiana
For what itâs worth, I wouldnât evaluate schools based on whether or not they provide a pathway to an Equity card. The way to get your card has changed in the last 5 years, and Equity now offers an âopen accessâ way to take your card that is if you have ever worked professionally in theatre as an actor (even non-union theatre), you can take your card when you feel ready. You no longer need to book Equity work or go through the EMC program to be able to take your card. By the time your child graduates, in all likelihood they will have at least one credit that will open the door to their Equity card for them (then the question will be if itâs the right time for THEM to take their card, because how you calculate that is different for everyone).
Anyone hear from Indiana artistically today?
I have no clue . I assume Friday.
She got an email rejection.
Anyone get news from Hartt? Or know when they send decisions?
Iâm really sorry to hear that! I hope your kid has other schools theyâre excited about
Elon was nice enough to extend us an additional week (3/20 â 3/27) before deciding either way. I think most programs extend you the courtesy of more time prior to committing if you communicate with them your situation. Weâre waiting on USCâŠfingers crossed!
more indiana rejections have gone out today
It looks like a good program - they just made amazing changes. The head of CMU MT Gary Kline is the Dean there and Broadway Actor and CMU alum Michael Campanyo is the chair. Looks like they are about to be BIG! MY DD just got their acceptance.
Why are they asking you to commit so early? None of the schools that have given offers to my daughter have required a commitment before May 1.
They are not required to commit before 5/1. However, itâs a courtesy to the program to try to decide earlier so they can move on and set their roster.
Yes, I understand. But he suggested that they were âextendingâ the decision period, so it appears that his daughter may be asked to commit by 3/27. This seems unusual.
My best guess is âwait listâ management. Since theyâre considered a top program by many, Iâm sure they want to do as my shuffling and solidify their Class of 2029 ASAP. Honestly, not sure the reason.
The wording of the acceptance email was something like âplease reply ie commit by 3/20 or risk forfeiture of your spotâ We took that seriouslyâŠ
Interesting!
TXST simply asked that my daughter let them know where sheâs at by early April, but indicated that she does have until May 1. Nothing about forfeiting a spot (which seems a bit heavy handed).
Pace emails for all four programs (MT, Acting, Intâl Performance, and FTVC) are reportedly outâŠ
My daughter got her REJECTION email from PACE. She got in academically, but no go for BFA MT. Oh well.
