Thanks! She’s definitely happy about it! She’s feeling conflicted, because she loved her auditions with both Indiana and with TXST. TXST is so much more affordable though, and she had the best day there observing classes.
It’s a great problem to have, though.

I have a freshman daughter at IU for VP. She LOVES it. Feel free to message me with general campus or Bloomington questions. Her roommate for next year is doing MT, so I might be able to answer basic questions on the program too. Congrats to your possible future Hoosiers!

Has anyone had an update about Penn State MT decision or when they will be released?

We haven’t notified yet. I don’t know if it is a bad sign!

It’s hard to know how many offers have gone out, although we know IU doesn’t offer to yield. If you haven’t got a no yet, then it’s possible you could still get a yes or a waitlist.

This our hope! Although my son has 4 waitlist programs already and says those are worse than the rejections at this point! He does have 4 MT offers and one BA Music redirect though. 2 of those offers he’s not really interested in, and another one is a small local program that would be fine, but he isn’t super excited for. He’s looking into the BA option, but has questions about what to expect. And the offer he is most excited for is potentially out of our price range. This process is rough and not for the faint of heart.

Totally feeling your waitlist pain over here. DS is currently on 7 waitlists, including one at his favorite school. Best of luck on some waitlist movement for your son!

Are you able to negotiate financial aid/scholarships with the one that’s potentially out of range?
He definitely has to focus on offers in hand and narrow down a decision based on that. If a waitlist that he loves opens up before May 1, great! If it opens up after, then you lose your deposit, but it may be worth it in the end. There’s still a lot of time for things to change, but I’d be focusing on what he has right now, not what he potentially might have.
It’s definitely a tough, tough process!

The great news is: the waitlist schools want your son! The bad news is: they’re still trying to find a spot for him!
Hopefully there’ll be some movement in the next little while as people get the last of their results and are then able to make choices and release schools. My daughter will likely be releasing schools within the next week or so, which may help with opening up spaces for others.
Hope you get the news you’re hoping for!

i contacted admissions and they said to expect decisions to be released during the week of march 24!

We are going to try. I don’t know that any financial stuff has gone out for them yet. We have a visit planned for Monday though so hopefully we can get a few more answers then! We are also working on a visit for the BA music program. We are doing a visit for one of the waitlist schools because it is relatively close and he was waitlisted for both their MT and Acting programs :upside_down_face:

Don’t get me wrong, we are so glad he has offers! I’m just really missing when my oldest applied to one school and was accepted and then went there and is set to graduate next May

So I have a related question on financial aid and I hope someone can point me to a good resource or two. Our financial situation has, umm, changed dramatically over the past two months. It’s a scary time for us (and a lot of others) due to unexpected cutbacks in federally funded programs. And those changed circumstances are highly unlikely to change back anytime soon.

As a result, our FAFSA is woefully inaccurate when it comes to our current financial situation (versus what was used to make the determination – a now two-year-old tax return). How do you go about conveying that to schools? And does initiating that conversation put merit aid at risk?

Thanks in advance for your advice/thoughts.

Sorry for having to deal with this situation. But it is not uncommon and it is called ā€œSpecial Circumstances.ā€ Please reach out the financial aid offices of your child’s schools as soon as possible.

According to another group that is pretty reliable, at least some Penn State offers went out yesterday. I would imagine the March 24 date will be the nos. In the past they have kept some students deferred into the month of April.

Yes, I know someone who got the call from Penn State yesterday.

Does anyone know when Hartt is coming out?

I haven’t heard back yet!
