Are there many muslims at Exeter and Andover. I would like to know because I am a muslim pakistani girl who lives in georgia and will apply as a 11th grader next year. I would like to kno whether any of this is a hook? And if I am accepted, will there be many other muslims there?

Hey there!

Andover has a good number of muslims - they have a club of their own, called MSU (Muslim Student Union). They’re very active on campus - last month they brought the Pakistani Ambassador to the United States to campus to speak and have dinner with students! I’ll link you to the article:

Also, it’s always awesome to meet a potential new upper! I was one myself! If you have any questions, refer to my prior threads and ask questions as desired!

Yours,

Thank you! I just asked because I didn’t want to feel alone and because I’ve been bullied for being a muslim.
Anyways, thanks :)

Aww! Rest assured, that’s not something you’d EVER face here! As I like to say, the only intolerance here is the intolerance of intolerance.

You definitely won’t be bullied at Andover. We have people from all over the world and from many different backgrounds, so you never have to worry about fitting in.

Sort of off topic - but you should definitely write about your experience being Muslim in the South. Boarding schools seem to be (and correct me, current BS students, if I’m wrong!) about bringing together a diverse mix of unique individuals with interesting experiences and a student like yourself could be a great example of that!

You should also try talking to or private messaging CaliPaki - she has a thread on this site too - who is also a Muslim Pakistani student, currently deciding between Andover and Exeter. She might be able to help you with questions the rest of us can’t answer
or tell you about her experience applying~

I am a muslim. I can speak for Hotchkiss and I assume Andover is similar. NE prep schools are very welcoming to people of different religions and faiths - islam is no exception. I number of my friends talked about religion with me etc. One kid converted to islam at Hotchkiss, if anyone was going to make of anyone it would be him - nobody did. It seriously does not matter whatsoever. We had Palestinians on campus from Gaza and the West bank studying along everyone else - hothckiss goes out of its way to be as international as possible in every respect. Numerous faculty specifically mentioned recruiting even more muslim students to campus. Everyone is tolerated.

Assalamu Alykum.

I think it’s fair to say Tom and I really dont know the Muslim experience at Andover, and although what Tom said is true, what I think may be more important than whether Muslims attend these schools, is whether they feel comfortable… or generally how being Muslim has affect (or not) their lives at these schools. if you would like I could send you the email address of a friend from PA, just PM me.
