Must eat resturant

Im visiting on monday! And I want to know what resturants near campus is good (no mexican)!

Well, on campus I like The Pita Pit (mmmm…fresh), Schlotzsky’s Deli, and Kerbey Lane Cafe. There are also numerous Thai and Chinese places, if you prefer that type of cuisine and a more dinner-like feel. I personally would recommend Crave Thai & Sushi Bar and Madam Mam’s Noodles & More.

Mellow Mushroom is great if you like pizza, Pluckers is great if you like chicken.

Other than Kerbey Lane and Crave, honestly none of the restaurants near campus are what I would quantify as “good” and definitely not “must eat” places. Then again I’m a total food snob. lol If you can take a short drive west, Hula Hut is uniquely Austin and on the lake, or south to Guerro’s or Home Slice Pizza on South Congress. They are still affordable and have better food than pretty much all of the garbage around campus (yes I’m biased) - I figure you have a lot of time to eat at all the places near campus, why not see a bit of the city while your parents are around to foot the bill? And if you’re looking for excellent (but not cheap) steak, I highly recommend Fogo de Chao, Sullivan’s (both downtown), or Cool River (north, so likely not an option).

County Line - great bar-b-q, try the mushrooms … not near campus, but there are two locations. There are also lots of great places down near 6th street and in warehouse district, which are closer to campus - just as around. You need to get down to 6th street anyway …

Clay Pit- Indian (i think North) food

Mrs. J’s doughnuts for dessert. On Airport Blvd, near 51st.

Kerbey Lane for sure.

Ditto Kerbey Lane - pancakes are THE BEST!!!

I agree with Magina. The Clay Pit is wonderful.

Kerbey sucks. Go to Magnolia or just drive to Dallas for Cafe Brazil. It’s way better.

Near campus I love Pluckers and Trudy’s.

I would agree Magnolia’s gingerbread pancakes are better than KLC’s, but I <3 KLC’s sweet potato fries…yumm…and when going to Trudy’s, I highly recommend the stuffed avocado.

I like the Kerbey lane blueberry pancakes and the sweet potato fries! But, since I am a pancake conossieur, I’ll have to check out the Magnolia ginger bread ones next time I’m in town. :)

abels on the lake

Don’t listen to them, Crave is horrible and the service is absolutely pathetic.

You MUST go to Kerbey Lane, Torchy’s Tacos, Mellow Mushroom, Texadelphia and Juan in a Million.

I wonder where he/she went.

YDS, what was the name of the restaurant we went to? It was delicious! I wanted to tell my son, and forgot!!

Hyde Park Bar & Grill. We went to the central location, but there’s one down south, too, in the same parking lot as the Central Market south.

Thanks for making me homesick, you guys!!! :-(
