I met with my adviser before when I transferred into the college and she explicitly told me that X class would fill the role of another class. The class in question is “Economic Policy Analysis”. In my previous college I had taken both micro and macroeconomic classes. She told me that the microeconomic class would fulfill the requirement of the Economic Policy Analysis class.I declared graduation, and am set to graduate in December. I decided to meet with her before I left college for the summer. I’ve never met with her since as I think most advisers are useless and I can set my own schedule up - you just look at the required courses and follow that. I just wanted to make sure that I didn’t completely mess myself over. The meeting was going well, but then she asked my why I haven’t, and why I didn’t sign up for the class in the fall (economic class). I’m only signed up for 3 classes, 2 of which are degree requirements, and one is an elective. I told her that I didn’t need to because she told me that my previous coursework fulfilled that class requirement. She denied ever saying that, and we got into a heated argument. What should I do? I’m not taking the class because she told me I didn’t have to, but I want to graduate.
Sorry if this isn’t the right forum, but I don’t know who to go to. My dad pays for my college and I told him that I only had 3 classes left. I’d really prefer not to have to pay for another class or waste my time. She told me in my initial meeting that I would not need to take the class, but now she’s telling me I have to.
