It troubles me that I am at a great disadvantage to others in the college application process.
I was born into a generic Caucasian family. I sometimes dream that my mother was partially Native American, making me at least 1/16th Native American in the process. Or, maybe my father could have been born a humble man from Mexico. Only in dreams does he immigrate to the United States and obtain a degree from a very prestigious institution. The same institution which my Mother went to. The same institution which I plan to apply to.
I could be at least 1/16th Native American and Hispanic! I would no longer be the generic white kid with great grades and standardized test scores.
I would be the stand-out Native American Indian-Mexican-Legacy kid with great grades and standardized test scores.

Don’t fret…there are so many people in your same position. I’m about 1/6th Portuguese and a very little Native American, but not enough to get anything extra fancy. Most people of those ethnic backgrounds are such a small percentage that it doesn’t even matter. If you’re a stand out person, than you’ll stand out for sure.

I’m a Heinz 57 varieities white girl.
in fact, none of my heritage is more than 1/32 as my dad is 9 things and my mom is 4. I feel for you
