I am not in the market for a complete bathroom reno. all the fixtures ie tile, tub etc. have to stay, with that in mind, help me freshen and update paint colors, vanity color & hardware, mirrors, lighting etc. The bathroom is light filled and very bright, which I like!
Everything sounds pretty neutral right now. I would be tempted to add just a tad of color instead of the buttermilk wall color. Maybe a very subtle beachy - think very muted beach glass or a sandy pink color?
Is the antique sideboard bare wood “color” or painted?
I am currently loving brass fixtures/mirrors. Here is a bathroom my fav home DIY people just finished. I personally like the neutral walls and the colored vanity. Love the mirrors and lighting. https://www.younghouselove.com/master-bathroom-before-after/
You can also breathe some light in a bathroom with a couple of plants. On a sill, on the floor, hanging.
It does sound like a very neutral space. What do you feel needs the updating? Those beige tones are definitely back in. What’s the style and age of your home?
What are your towel/bath mat colors? You can do a lot with just hardware and accessories. Maybe a bolder paint color for the vanity?
I also was thinking a beach glass color on the walls. Accessorize with new towels, rug, maybe change out the fixtures. I still like brushed nickel, just modernized mine last summer.
My updated bathroom is very small, so I have off white wood work, light taupe walls, biscuit shower tile, toilet and sink, tile floor. Towels and picture are shades of beach glass with a taupish/aqua framed mirror.
I’ll also second the accent wall of wallpaper. There are some quality removable wallpapers out there now as well if you wanted to try it out without making a more permanent application.
I have a beachy glass color, at least at my house, which has some wicked PNW light for paint colors, it’s BM Dusty Miller. I adore it, mostly greenish/aqua, but a bit of gray and blue in some light. My light is dramatically different winter/summer- no direct sunlight in many areas in winter and flooded with full afternoon and evening sun in summer.
I am thinking about a bathroom rent to remove the huge jetted garden tub, it even has the corner seat, so takes up a huge amount of floor space. The current shower is only 3x3 so thinking to replace the tub area with a new master shower, it’d be about 40" and about 60" long.
That means the current shower likely just becomes storage, I can’t imagine having too much storage, but then I have no tub. There is a tub in the bedroom area on a different floor, so I think it’s ok for resale. Thoughts?
I think if you have one tub, that’s good enough for resale. I see a lot of oversized showers in the master bath where you might expect a jetted tub. Maybe they’re going out in favor of the soaking tub?
@somemom We opted for a large two person shower over a shower and a tub in our master bath. Our realtor said that as long as there was another bath tub somewhere else in the house we were fine.
