We are talking about having a big girls night out with my D’s , son’s fiance and the five other girls in her family - not exactly greek, but son and fiance will sort of be having a big fat Lebanese wedding in June!!!
So fess up. Love the original or not? How many of you could still swoon over John Corbett like I did/do?!!!
My dh didn’t love the movie. I told him that’s because he thought it was a documentary. =)) Hit just a little too close to home for him. But he grew to love it.
Loved it when it first came out and have enjoyed it with my two Ds-- I just wish the sequel would come out earlier so we could watch it over the holidays…
@youdon’tsay I think it hit’s home with a lot of ethnic families, no matter the flavor.
in my Italian family, instead of there being 25 Nicks (or some variant), the introductions would sound like: Frank, Frank, Frank, Frankie, Francis, Little Frank, Fran… I still laugh when the plain vanilla family sits in shock at all the crazy, but typical antics, of an ethnic family.
We have a lot of Leos in our family, and also Freds - when you have a father/son, and the dau marries one with the same name as her father/brother and whose FIL is also same name, then they all name a son the same name.
I loved the movie. It reminded me of my own wedding. DH’s conservative parents meeting my boisterous extended family complete with nosy aunts. I can’t wait for the sequel!
I loved the movie and am looking forward to the sequel. I think you could substitute many ethnic groups in the title–I had a version of My Big Fat Croatian Wedding (the first time).
Oh we love that movie! It leaves all of us in tears from laughing so hard. Happydad’s extended Cuban/Venezuelan family is one long string of Maria, Maria, Maria, Maria, Elena, Elena, Elena, Elena, and of course with all the various diminutives.
