My Brown Interview Experience

It went great-not that I believe that I personally had a great interview but that my experience was a great one.

My interviewer was a 2001 Brown undergraduate alum, and she currently conducts research at the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor. We met inside of a Panera Bread on the UMich campus, and I think we hit it off right away. She was very friendly, talkative, and it seemed like she could relate to everything I said, offering her perspective and insight from her own experiences. I have had five interviews so far, and this one was the best by far. As I stated earlier, I don’t feel as if I was able to make an especially-amazing impression or anything like that; in contrast, she made quite an impression on me.

The first thing that struck me during our conversation was that this woman was very, very, very intelligent. This is not to disparage the knowledge of those other interviewers whom I had the privilege to meet before; she was just exceptionally well-cultured and knowledgeable on a variety of subject matter. The interview really did not feel like a traditional interview at all. It was almost as if I was becoming acquainted with someone of similar interests. Needless to say, I felt very comfortable, and the experience was very enjoyable. If anything, it’s made me want to attend Brown even more, and I may only hope that one day I may emulate her accomplishments and grow to be more like her person.

Also: My interviewer never asked me about any of my other potential schools or where I had been accepted. *one of my other interviewers even went as far as to question me about the size of my scholarships at my state flagships. However, we talked for over two hours about anything and everything, and I voluntarily spoke about some of my other schools when talking about my experiences and goals. I just felt comfortable enough, and it was truly a great experience. I feel honored to have been granted to privilege to meet my interviewer.

And that’s how it’s supposed to work folks! (well maybe not 2 hours unless you are both okay with that, but otherwise.) Glad you had such a good experience, and best of luck!

^Exactly. Though I am pro 2 hours :)
