my chances at big ten schools

<p>im a new user, just trying to figure out…</p>

<p>i just got my transcript and it looks disgusting. freshman yr was really bad (was in dc public school system) and i got a 2.75 uw </p>

<p>transfered to montgomery county and got 3.5 uw 4.0 w soph yr</p>

<p>junior yr now, got 3.5 uw for 1st sem, hoping to improve 2nd sem…</p>

<p>im a minority, have shown alot of improvement and increased involvement (do alot of community service, in leadership position in an after school program)</p>

<p>also have an intesting story and have had to overcome significant hardships relevant to the reason for my bad grades fresh yr. (incl. economic probs)</p>

<p>what do people think my chances are at places like u mich (reaaaaallly wanna go there) u mass, u wisonsin, nyu, etc?</p>

<p>U Mich is a good bet, as long as you get decent scores for SAT/ACT. Make sure that you tell your story well through your admissions app questions. That’s the place to make yourself stand out … U of M gives you the opportunity to do so with the kinds of questions they ask. I don’t know enough about the others to comment, though.</p>
