OTHER: I have Tourette Syndome

You’ll get in.

You’ve got a good chance, especially with all your EC’s and work experience. If you get the chance though, try to raise your test scores. That’s your only weakness.

Are their any “Set-in-Stone” requirements for the journalism school?

You don’t get admitted to the J-School, you get admitted to University Division and after a year or two you apply to the J-School. There are no requirements.

Anyone else?

Your GPA and extra curriculars are great…just where they should be. However the SAT score is a little below the average for IU. See if you can either retake it, or possibly take the ACT. Either way, you’re not looking too shabby, I think you’d still get in if you applied really really early.

AND…IU doesn’t require an essay, but your having tourette syndrome does make you unique from others…maybe you could write a short essay explaining that too?

barren…

Your saying that me being poor in one area is going to offset how well I am doing in two other area’s?

That sucks.

IU doesn’t even consider extracurriculars and your essay. It’s all about your test scores and GPA. That’s how it is at nearly every school in the country. You have a solid GPA but your test scores aren’t enough for scholarship material.

Scout…don’t be so worried…what I meant to say is you should and probably will get in…however there is still that slight chance that they might look at your test scores and possibly not accept you. However, if you retake it or maybe take the ACT and get a good score at the beginning of senior year, that might secure your spot. Say you raised the SAT to about a 1650 or got atleast a 24 on your ACT, I would say you’re in for sure. Where you are now, you still stand a very good chance, but it’s not 100%. Good luck!

A2,

Why the hell would they ask you on the application about your ECs?

They don’t as far as I remember, they said if you want you can provide a list of extracurriculars. I remember this was on the supplemental sheet and it said the word (optional) at the end of it when I applied 2 years ago.

Edit: Here is where it says so on the application:

Oh,

Alright
