<p>Hi … here are my stats.</p>

<p>I’m in the IB diploma program with the most challenging course load for all four years. My high school is in the Newsweek Top 300, so it’s moderately competitive. By the way, I’m white and female and Jewish.</p>

<p>Stats:
currently ranked 2/580
freshman year-4.0 unweighted, 4.68 weighted
sophomore year-3.9 unweighted, 4.52 weighted
junior year-3.95 unweighted, 4.68 weighted</p>

<p>SATS: 800math, 780reading, 760 writing=2340 total
SAT IIs: MathIIC 780, US History 760, Chemistry 740</p>

<p>EC’s seperated by focus areas:
Language:

  • 7 years of Spanish
  • 4 years of Hebrew taken through U of M College-in-the-Schools, total of 24 credits
  • 3 years flvs.net online Latin class</p>

<p>Leadership:

  • Student council treasurer this year
  • Student school board representative this year
  • President of synagogue youth organization
  • On school board as a junior</p>

<p>Volunteering/business initiative:

  • Over 1,000 documented C.S. hours through high school, nothing really impressive… mix of homeless shelters, nursing homes, etc
  • Tutors elementary schools kids in Hebrew for 15/hr. twice weekly
  • Started a business selling reusable flashcards that has made thousands of dollars over the last couple years
  • Started a community vegetable garden, I deliver vegetables to residents the area for a nominal fee, 3 years now
  • Took a 1 month community service trip to Jamaica between sophomore/junior years</p>

<p>Awards (I’m lacking…):

  • Various regional/state writing contests, I believe 6
  • Attended National History Day in 10th and 11th grade, placed 18th and 13th</p>

<p>I have no idea what my major is going to be. It changes almost daily, so I just wont put anything.</p>

<p>Clearly you’re a strong candidate anywhere. While HYPS are lotteries where you certainly have a ticket, you should get mostly acceptances below those.</p>

<p>I would guess Southwest as well. You have great stats, and being from Minnesota should probably help a little, but IMO, your ECs are seriously lacking for Ivy (well–top Ivy) contention. I did a lot of what you did and it certainly didnt get me into an Ivy. I think these seem like good choices:
Columbia
Northwestern
UChicago
Duke
Brown
Carleton</p>

<p>You have a good list and can certainly add more top non-Ivies to your list which I think you have a good chance at. I wouldnt discourage you from applying to the top top schools, but know that most who apply have far superior ECs. GL.</p>

<p>Your SAT scores, class rank, and GPA are all Ivy-quality and being from Minnesota is definitely a plus. I’d say you’ve got a great shot at getting into at one of the “reach” schools on your list. Nevertheless, bear in mind that the five Ivies you’ve chosen and Stanford are pretty much a crapshoot for everyone. Ratings on a scale of: high reach, reach, semi-reach, good fit, likely, safety.</p>

<p>While Ivy-leagues are reaches for just about anyone, you seem to have a strong chance. Your ECs, grades, and SAT are stellar. I’m sure you will get into most schools you listed above. Just make sure your essay is also killer, and you should be all set. Good luck.</p>
