What are my chances for getting into these colleges with my scores? Are my expectations too high?

you are a very strong candidate for all your schools… Your SATs are phenomonal, but ur GPA should be better considering that you are much more intelligent than a 92 (i know how it feels), and ur half hispanic and a US resident, I think ull get into McGill, VA tech, UVA, JHU, Cornell, and most likely Dartmouth assuming you have good essays and Recs. Stanford, Princeton, Harvard and MIT are tough to predict, but u have a great application, so I think you have a chance of acceptance from at least 2 of the 4 schools, possibly all…Nice work on ur SATs

I think you have a pretty decent shot at these schools. You have great SATs and decent Ecs however I think your GPA is a little weak but besides that most of these schools, with the exception of harvard, princeton, and MIT, I think you can get in to.

My GPA is relatively low due to the harsh grading at our school. We take the IB tests but for some classes we don’t get a curve (math, physics, english, history.) Also, our math teacher predicted 4/6 people in the class would get 7s. (He also grades incredibly harshly.)

Would my GPA and my weak “community service” ECs overshadow my other admissions factors?

You have a good shot at all of them except princeton, harvard, MIT, and Stanford. At those schools, your shot is about 50/50 likely less. I say this for 2 reasons. #1: Your GPA is low. The avergae GPA of a student accepted to Stanford is 3.9. Also, I have a friend who, this year, got rejected from MIT despite having a 2390. His gpa was 3.6, and his ec’s were not eye catching. Thus, it is very important to make yourself seem uquie and interesting if you want to get in, even if you had a high gpa. #2: I see nothing to stands out to me. Your essays need to combat this and keep admissions officers eyes from glazing over as they look at perfect test scores but nothing elese noteworthy. Also of note is that you are internat’l, and I know that at some schools, such as Stanford (where I was admitted SCEA this year, so i know what I’m talking about), actually make it tougher for them to get in, but then again I know that other top schools like Harvard are 40% int’l or thereabouts. Good Luck and Godspeed.

Honestly, other extracurriculars just aren’t available in the czech republic. Our school puts the grade high GPA next to the actual student’s GPA in the counselor recommendation as well.

The reason US colleges don’t accept many Ints is because they focus on American students, and many believe that the students cannot afford the colleges. As I am American I doubt that my geographical residence will affect my admission.

It still kinda annoys me how people at my school have to compete with people from public schools (in terms of GPA) and be seen the same. The GPA will vary depending on the difficulty of the school. My school just happens to have many difficult classes.
