So what are my chances..if these schools dont match me what school DO match what can be my new REACH and NEW safetys (the ones not on the list)?

bump
^^bump

I think the only school on this list that you've got a shot at is RIT. All the other schools are reaches. Possibly Purdue if you are instate. Look at Drexel (match), Northeastern (match/reach), and University of Cincinnati (match). All have excellent co-op programs to boot.

I live in NY...so im basically screwd i can't get into any of those colleges except RIT? not even RPI???? ahhh

bump/..ssss

Carnegie Mellon University - Reach

Georgia Institute of Technology - Reach (Out of State = Harder to get in)

Lehigh University - Reach

New York University - Slight Reach

Penn State University Park - Match

Purdue University - Bit of a Reach

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute - Match. I plan on going here. Great school.

Rochester Institute of Technology - Safety

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology - Don't know much about it

Texas A&M University - Reach for out of staters

Tufts University - Big Reach. Their engineering isn't that great anyway.

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign - Out of state reach.

University of Maryland: College Park - Match.

University of Michigan - Reach

Try your best at the schools. Only problem is that you're out of state. You have decent grades... but they're out of state and will be very selective. Good Luck.

Have you looked at Virginia Tech? I think you've got a chance of getting in there.

new list updated
Virginia Tech
Carnegie Mellon University -
Georgia Institute of Technology -
Lehigh University -
Penn State University Park -
Purdue University -
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institutite -
Rochester Institute of Technology -
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign -
University of Michigan -
any more ideas for colleges? /safetys/match?

Virginia Tech-match
Carnegie Mellon University -reach
Georgia Institute of Technology -slight reach
Lehigh University -safety
Penn State University Park -match
Purdue University -match (but apply NOW! The sooner you apply, the better your chances, because they do rolling admissions)
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institutite -match
Rochester Institute of Technology - safety
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign - Major Reach! Don't even bother
University of Michigan - slight reach (Just like Purdue, you've got a better chance if you apply earlier. It might be already too late for Mich, however)

Hope that helps.

why is uiuc and umich such a 'major' reach, are they thaaaat competitive?

UMich is reach because you are out of state. It's very competitive for out of state. If you haven't submitted your application yet to Mich, then I really wouldn't bother since it's rolling.

y so early..this is early admission deadline season...the regular deadlines haven't even started yet :-/

UMich is rolling admission. Therefore, it's basically first come first serve basis. Since you are out of state, your chances greatly decrease. Everyone recommends that you send in the app ASAP, Halloween being the target date. I'm not saying don't apply there, by all means, send in your application, but don't be discouraged if you are denied admission.

Virginia Tech - slight reach
Carnegie Mellon University - reach
Georgia Institute of Technology - slight reach
Lehigh University - slight reach
Penn State University Park - slight reach - they rate highly on SAT's
Purdue University - slight reach once they fill the class, you're outta luck
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institutite - slight reach
Rochester Institute of Technology - safety
Rose Hulman - reach
