What do you think my chances are, realistically?

are you a resident of North Carolina?

this does make a significant difference.

I am an NC resident. how could I forget that ?

No, worries! I was just wondering, because, as I said, from my knowledge of this school, it does make a significant difference.

I am a senior from New Jersey, who was, at one time, interested in Chapel Hill. Even with a 31 on my ACTs and a 2110 on my SATs, it became evident that my lack of residency in NC would make my chances extremely slim, and make acceptance to UNC almost impossible unless I was an extremely good athlete (which I’m not) or if I have done something academically that was completely extraordinary (which I unfortunately have not).

Like you stated, it would be beneficial to raise your ACT scores if you can, but I do think that you have a fair enough chance at UNC.

Hope this helps.
