My chances getting into Georgia Tech???please help

Hey, I applied to Georgia Tech and I’m just soo nervous about getting rejected because its my dream school. My situation is pretty rare so I don’t know if i’ll get accepted or not.
I was diagnosed with Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy my freshman year of high school and for two years my seizures were out of control despite medication so I didn’t attend school regularly. My GPA suffered a lot.

bummpp, please help

GT may not have many AA females, so you may have a chance.

Are you instate?

no im out of state, does that hurt me?

Well, being OOS will mean that you won’t get much, if any aid. Can your parents pay for GT? If not, it won’t likely be affordable since it costs about $40k per year.

It would appear that GT would be a reach for you unless any of your special circumstances are viewed favorably. No one on CC will be able to predict that, so I’m more concerned about what your other options are. Did you apply to schools at which you’re feeling confident about acceptance and affordability?

yes, i’ve been accepted to 5 schools now and most have given me large scholarships. Georgia tech is just my first choice and i really love the school

Aside from my GPA, doesn’t my improvement or fact that I’ve been taking difficult courses at a college for two years count for anything? I’ve been the equivalent of a full time college student since Junior year. I don’t mean to sound like im whining, but I just worked really hard trying to make myself a competitive applicant.

bumppppppppppppp

bump bump bump

I think it would really help people if you posted a list of the Five schools you were accepted to, if you feel comfortable doing so.
It would get an idea on what admissions officers think of this situation.

sorry its actually four. They aren’t very prestigious but they were my safety schools

1)Saint Louis University
2)Seattle Pacific University
3)Westminister University
4)Whitworth

If anyone is interested in helpig me a bit more, i’ll send my personal statement.

bumppppppppp

There’s no way to tell, except to wait and see. Tech’s average GPA is 3.87 and you’re at 3.1. Their median SAT is 1335; their 25th percentile is 1240; your ACT 25 is equivalent to about an 1150. That’s a lot of ground to have to make up. But your gender and the fact that you want to study Engineering may count for more than anything else. Tech is 70% male, but most of their female students are in the Liberal Arts. Their Engineering School is overwhelming male, though on the “Student Profiles” page of the Tech School of Engineering site, five of the nine students profiled are female. That should tell you that they’re trying very hard to recruit female engineers.

If you get into GT will your parents pay. Your stats won’t get u a scholarship to GT. How much did you get from your other schools

thanks for your honest post. Did you go to georgia tech?

bumppppppppp

I got an email about decisions being posted on buzz report by march 18th this morning. It seemed really generic, but i was just wondering if it means anything?

some more advice please??
