My chances if 30 people from my school are applying too...

Does it impact my chances if around 30 qualified canidates from my high school are applying too, and some are doing ED?
And what are my chances?

You have a decent chance. I mean you have to realize that the average enrolled sat is a 1420, which means the average admitted sat score is around a 1450-1460 to my estimate. Thus, your SAT score is a bit low but your ACT score is very competitive. Good luck!

Your chances look great. Just write a good essay. They will probably not even consider your SAT. That is what they told me. I have a 33 as well but only a 1320 SAT, and I was told by the admissions office that my SAT will probably be disregarded and ACT considered.

First, lots of “qualified” candidates won’t get in; there just isn’t room for them. Second, whether the other applicants from your school affect your chances will depend on a few factors, like whether the ED kids get in or not. You know NU isn’t going to accept anywhere close to 30 kids from the same school. And if the ED kids are rejected, they’re done - no RD second chance for them.
My suggestion is not to worry about how many other kids from your school are applying, since you have no control over that anyway. Just worry about your own essay, and make it shine. Also, are you applying somewhere ED? If so, worry about that first; the NU app might become moot.
Good luck!

I would hazard a guess that New Trier holds the record for greatest # of kids applying to / getting accepted to Northwestern from a given secondary school. Anyone here from New Trier who knows what those stats are? Ditto for any of the other North Shore high schools, like Highland Park, the Glenbrooks, etc.

According to Naviance, New Trier application/acceptance:
2007: 132/44
2006:124/49
2005:77/27
2004:108/42

S is applying ED.

Do we know for sure if Northwestern reads at the high school level?
