Reach means it is not likely for you to get in. However, that does not mean you should not still apply there! I would agree with the above poster who gave you your chances.

First of all, get your real score before asking for chance. Second, you do need at least 2100+/31+ for UIUC engineering (as you have all tech schools on the list) to make you a high match (slightly better and low reach) and all the rest would still be reach for you.

UIUC is probably the highest chance on the list and their mid 50 ACT for engineering is 31-34 and mid 50 CR+M in SAT is 1360-1480. Being an oos international student, aim at the 75% which is the upper end of the mid 50 range. Make sure you have great scores in Math section scores and Math2 subject test.

All of those schools are reaches for you and everyone. You need to plan on paying full fees for any school that admits you and you need safeties. SAT of 2000 is common for students at that level.

You are trying to substitute and pad your ec’s for your test scores. It doesn’t work that way at those schools. It’s grades and SAT scores first, in order to get your application a second reading. Sports and Arts are a huge plus and they have to have been done over the years. Not trying to burst your bubbles but these schools receive hundreds of thousands of applications. Computer nerds are very common applicants among those schools.

first i can say i have pretty grades 10/10 GPA in 9th and 10th grade in all five subjects every semester. In 12th it falls slightly but much and pretty good. Also my SAT II scores are decent, will improve SAT I scores.
I am not a computer nerd, i am a research nerd in green technology with recognition from top Indian Universities and government.

Why not continue your studies in your country? It sounds like you are already making inroads at home and in your government. If you continue to do so, you should be fine at those top Indian Universities.

thats the irony, here you need to pass in entrance tests which i failed. I defeated IIT students in research competition but could not crack its entrance test, so no admission.
So i am looking for abroad. Also I could get excellent research opportunities so i could continue doing research and take it too next level.

I’m just trying to be honest about your chances. The competition for those few spots is really difficult and ultra competitive, so you need to have safeties. Please look here on CC and see how others, who have gotten into those schools, have performed for test scores and EC’s. My son, fortunately, got into Caltech with great SAT, AP scores and EC’s but it was a LOT of work for him to include the rituals of studying, volunteering, work, and playing team sports. The universities like to see a balance of time management skills with excellent test scores.
