My chances of getting into Medill Northwestern as an International Student

Hi, I’m currently a HS Junior and Vietnamese International Student. I’ve always wanted to be a journalist when I grow up and so I aspire to study journalism at Medill, Northwestern University. Below are my stats and overall of my ECs, I hope I can get some insight as how my chances are currently standing and how I can improve them (since Medill and NU are highly competitive).

GPA: 3.65 (UW), 4.0 (W)
SAT: 1520
AP: already had a 5 on AP Human Geo and I am taking AP Stats, Lang Comp, Psych and Seminar this year (our school provide the AP Capstone Diploma)

Awards:

  1. Immerse Essay Contest - 2nd Place (I am working for more writting contests)
  2. Championed several Vietnam and Asia debating championship (10+ awards in competitive debating)
  3. First Place at school’s got talent competition (Dance)

ECs:
Founded my HS’s media club; student magazine and Editor In Chief of Schools newspaper
On the Vietnam’s National Debating Team (WSDC Team Vietnam) and competed at the Serbia WSDC 2024
Founded Vietnam’s first Youth Journalist Association and led a news site to report on postive journalism
Led an environmental project that design field trips for over 10 international school that encourages eco tourism and sustainable tourism
Full ride scholarship to UF’s Summer Program
Interned at a official news site (nation wide)
Plenty of other leadership roles at school & volunteer trips

Additional note: I applied to Medill Cherubs and YYGS this year and got waitlisted, still waiting to hear back from them.
