hey guys.
i am so anxious just waiting to get my letter
i sent my app on Nov. 30th and my status changed to “We have received all materials required to review your application…” on Dec. 28th.
i feel like i need to wait until Jan. or Feb. to get a letter but idk.

generally speaking, i’m asian and a U.S. citizen. i lived in another country for 10 years and returned back to the U.S. about 5 years ago, this may explain why my reading score for my SAT is low…and my dad graduated from UW seattle.
this is my first choice so i really hope i get in!

Here is what i’ve got.

GPA: 3.61 (unweighted)
-i took Honors classes in freshman year and sophomore year.
-i had one IB class(IB Precalc) in sophomore year because i am 2 years ahead for math.
-on my 4th year of foreign language (Spanish)
IB classes I took in:
Junior Year: IB Chem 1, IB Calc (SL), IB American History, IB English SL
Senior Year: IB Chem 2, IB Bio 1, IB Calc 2 (HL), IB Spanish SL, IB English HL

SAT1: reading: 490, Math: 710 Writing:590
Total: 1790 (i took two, but this one was a little better)
SAT2: Math II: 700, Korean :790

ECs:
-Community Service 200+ hrs (mainly from nursing home, relay for life, chamber orchestra for theater, teen feed, etc.)
-Awards: Most Committed and Most improved awards from tennis, 3rd place in essay contest.
-Tennis since freshman year
-class senator in past year
-currently in class council
-been a treasurer in school club

-UW doesnt look at SAT2s
-UW doesnt look at your WR score i think… so you have 1200/1600 for sat score in reality
-i think you have a good shot, average GPA for UW applicants aprox., IB classes, yeah, you will have to wait and see. good luck

I personally think you’ll get in perfectly fine, especially with that rigor of classes/extracurriculars. Your SAT is perfectly fine honestly, your living in another country explains the low reading scores.

Other than that, it goes to your essays, what did you write about?

Good luck! Hopefully we’ll be future college peers, I just got in a few weeks ago!

thanks and congrats!
i just wrote about one of my experiences from community service and how i discovered a characteristic about myself that i never knew through reflection of the society->connects to the community service.

That’s strange. I have almost identical GPA and SAT scores to you, and they “received” all the required materials for my application on the 28th as well. Perhaps this is a pattern. Turned mine in on the 29th too.
