My chances of getting to Cornell University?

I’m only in my my sophomore year in high school, but I’m really trying to gain an in-depth analysis of ivy league schools. Cornell is probably on the top of my list of the universities I would love to go to. I would like some opinions, about my plan for the next three years for my high school career.

GPA: 4.0/4.0
IB: I am receiving 7s in every single subject currently (But I’m only in my sophomore year)

Extracurriculars/Positions: Below lists, of what I’m currently participating, or what I plan to participate for the rest of my high school career):

MUN (hopefully a leader position)
Varsity Badminton
Varsity Swimming (hopefully captain next year)
Environmental Club (President) When I create this club, I would aim to gain some national or regional recognition
Key Club?
National Honors Society (starting a chapter, and becoming president)
Grade Leader (basically class president)
Prefect in my senior year
Ambassador in some cancer research organization
Tutor (Gr. 2-6) In any subject
Duke of Edinburgh (Bronze level currently)
Creator of Company (For gr. 10 personal project)

For summers, I hope to get involved with scientific research at my local university, and maybe become involved in some camps relating to science.

Most important of all: For next year, I will aim to obtain a gold medal in the Regional Science Fair, and be sent to go to the Canada Wide Science Fair. If that happens, I will also submit my work to the Google Science Fair. By doing this, I hope to gain international recognition for my scientific research.

Drawback: I reside in Canada, and in the IB program. AP is more American-inclined, while IB is more European-inclined.

Ethnicity: Asian

Please, any help would be appreciated!

:) :D

Come back when you have your SAT/ACT/SAT II and GPA after Junior.

Sorry, should have phrased my question better. If I maintain my current GPA in senior, with all these extracurriculars and summer activities, as listed above, what are my chances of getting into Cornell? Also other ivy leagues. With a great essay and SAT marks, of course.

About the same as every applicant with a 4.0 and a “great essay and SAT marks.” Look at any chance me thread or results thread and people will rate their essay 9/10 or 10/10. In reality, there is no telling how good your chances are. Look for something you love and do that well. Study for the SAT/ACT and do well, then give it a shot and see how it goes. Know that no SAT score guarantees an acceptance the same way no SAT score guarantees a rejection. Nobody is a shoe-in for any of the ivies, really. It comes down to luck.

I would wait until your Junior year to gauge your chances (I was the same as you Sophomore year but it was only until this past year that I realized how pointless it was to worry about admissions as a Sophomore).

It’s such a crapshoot but you’re definitely putting your best foot forward. I wish you the best of luck and make sure you study for those SATs and ACTs!
