My Chances / Please Respond

I have a 3.1 GPA now at the end of my junior year; I will most likely graduate with a 3.2 GPA. I have a 1040 SAT/ 22 ACT. I am in the top 30% of my class. I have taken honors courses:
(H/AP): English I
French III
French IV
I have a very strong extra-curricular background of over 1500 hours of volunteer work along with extra-curricular activities including:
French Club (4 Years)
Church Youth Group (10 Years)
Key Club Treasurer and Member (3 Years)
Natural Helper (2 Years)
Letterman's Club (2 Years)
Community Action Team (1 Year)
Coach of AYSO Youth Soccer (7 Years)
Coach of Youth Swim Team (3 Years)

I have also served on a Governor's Youth Advisory Council in Nevada for 2 Years and I am on the Youth Leadership Team at the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy. That is also a two-year term.

I am Involved in sports including
4 Varsity Letters in High School Swim Team
1 Junior Varsity Letter for High School Golf Team
14 Years on the Club Swim Team for my city

My work experience consists of a part time job during the summer of my junior year (this year), and four years as the Marketing Manager to a major magazine in my community.

I have many recomendations from teachers and coaches as well as the principal of my school. I also have a part minority status (1/4 Asian).

Considering all of this, what are my chances (percentage wise) of getting into Texas. Is there anything I can work on or fix to have a better chance of being admitted? I would love to be admitted to this school!!

I would love it if someone or many people would reply to this and be honest please!

are you in state or out of state? Since Texas is forced to admit top 7 percent now of texas public high schools, it doesn't really leave mcuh room to the point people with 1400 sats have been rejected. Asian is not minority. i would say you would get in only if it was for sports. Look at U of Houston, UTA, texas tech.

Thank You for responding, I need definite help! I am out of state. Would that help my chances of being accepted to Texas or hurt it? What would you say the best school to try an get into in Texas would be for someone with my background?

Your chances for freshman admission to UT Austin are not good. You might want to consider starting at a branch campus such as UT San Antonio or UT Arlington. If you do well as a freshman, you would have a good chance of transferring to Austin as a sophomore. You might also look at University of North Texas or University of Texas-Dallas.

Thank You for responding! I am having a tough time with this! Out of all of those schools you named off, which would you say, with my background would present me with the best opportunity for advancement? In other words which Texas school would you place at the top?

what major are you going to be? Do you want to live in a big city or in nowheresville? religious affiliated school? there are a lot of texas public schools so its hard to narrow them down without those types of answers.

hahaha i kno a lot even though im leaving texas after next year for sure

I would love to be in a large Texas city, and a large Texas school! I would prefer a non-religious school overall. Which one would you reccomend?

u of houston, ut san antonio, ut dallas ummm yeah that narrows it a bunch. i think those 3 are your best bets....those and austin r the only large cities fyi in my opinion. i kno people who go to all. curiourly why do you wanna go to texas?

My parents lived in Texas for awhile. I never have, I am from both Michigan and Nevada. I really think I would like Texas though. I would love to get a taste of Texas life. There is really no better way than schooling there, and Texas has some of the best universities. Thank You for your help!
