What are my chances of getting into engineering with

SAT1 : 1950 ( 710M, 640CR, 600W)
SATII : 780 Math, 640 Chem
GPA : 3.6 (unweighted) ( high school in Northern CA)
EC: school clubs, voluntary work in a church, piano player

which bay area hs? Believe it or not, but it matters…

As for your numbers, they look good, but BME would require you to be a pre-major, and then transfer into bme. it’s a tough road. EE would be less difficult. One thing i’ve noticed as a general theme is that it seems easier to apply as a undeclared and transfer into engineering.

Not sure how valid it is, but my hs numbers were similar to a friends. He got into ucla as undeclared and transferred into engineering, i got rejected by ucla, but into engineering elswhere.

One general trend i noticed is that i had a lower gpa than a lot of people, but my hs isn’t exactly known for being purely academics, and people are generally lower middle class. (berkeley high). This is obviously taken into consideration when judging your gpa.

the whole freaking out about uc’s is kinda usless. There are so many applicants, you being to start looking like just another name in the pile. Seriously, so many applicants have identicle numbers to you, it’s almost a chance game.

My sister had identicle numbers, extra cirriculars as her best friend coming out of hs. She got into ucsb, her friend got rejected. She got rejected from davis, her friend got in. There are millions of stories like this one.

You’re a name in the pile, and your best bet is to just apply to all the schools you’re wanting (willing) ot attend, and then see where you get in.

yeah u def have a good chance. and ur high school is fairly good (i’m in ur same district actually), and i got into engineering with a 2040 sat1/790/640/and a 3.75 uc. so my stats aren’t too impressive (Esp. the gpa) but for ucsd u def have a great chance. now if u want ucb or la then raise up ur score.
