I come from a very small town and I hope that they can see that I took advantage of the few available opportunities. I’m an above average essay writer so that’s where I plan to set myself apart from other applicants. I also would like to know my chances at Brown. I know these are reaches but I applied at a few state schools that I’m pretty sure I can get into as a backup.

A 31 composite is around 2100–2150. Even coming from a small town, you have relatively few ECs, your GPA (and rank) isn’t terribly competitive, and graduating early doesn’t help.

I’m afraid Brown and Yale are both reaches.

lol to the gifted thing I was just posting anything I could think of… and I know my extracurricular department is lacking and I get really depressed when I read some of these “chances” posts with all the things people have done… I haven’t had the opportunity to study alongside professionals or get internships because those types of things just don’t happen in a town with a population of less than 2000. I feel like I’ve made the best of what I’ve been offered but beyond that I feel like I can’t compete with people who grew up in New York or wherever and went to prestigious private schools.

I think you can definitely improve on the ACT since the middle 50% are 30-34 ish and your lack of ECs only lowers your chances. Good luck though!
